Background

Anck Su Namun was a daughter born within a harem, the royal divulgence. Constantly surrounded by a collection of beautiful women (all fighting for the masters attention) she was nothing more than an unwanted result. A girl. Pashet wanted a strong male line to carry on his legacy. To spread out like a plague and dominate Desierto but only one would be Pharaoh. It was a common thing among the nobility and the desperate. The Pharaoh had to have a strong line of heirs. Building power within their Harems. Anck Su Namun’s mother, Taa, was among his favourites. A beautiful desert flower that he’d plucked off the streets. She was cunning. Clawing her way to the top till the blood that filled her body was deprived of all warmth. A victim of the game.No one ever truly paid attention to the young girl even when her talent for magic was discovered. She was given a teacher and brushed to the side. Leaving her development out of prying eyes far too concerned with bedding Pashet and giving him a son. However in her later years her beauty soon became unmatched. Even stood among a collection of the finest Desierto had to offer she had bloomed into a true beauty. One that her father believed could be used for his own benefit. There were plenty of nobles who would like nothing more than to add her to the collection. A crown jewel among many. But her goal expanded beyond that. Why be a jewel within it when you could be the one wearing it?She was far down the line of heirs. Never destined to succeed further than a princess without a real title. Anck had no real political standing. Pharaoh’s had many children and she was yet another flower within his garden, ready to be plucked when the time called. However, she used that to her advantage. Hiring teachers and training herself for court life without anyone suspecting more than her growing magical abilities. A simply show she could put on but she had no intention of being a jester. As she grew older she began to feed honey, like sweet poison, to those in power. Sowing the seeds for her ascension to the crown. The purity of blood didn’t truly matter when you were one of many. It was nothing short of a popularity contest and one she intended to win. No one expected her to succeed. Her older brother Salatis had a particular way with words and was the clear favourite, constantly following their father about. Acting as a guard for a man he couldn’t wait to die. So, it was no surprise when Anck was throned.Impatient, the jealous Prince poisoned their beloved staged a Coup. All of those in the court that supported Anck were slain. Murdered beneath in the darkness of an unnatural eclipse. However, Salatis did not have the cunning to pull off such an event himself. No. He accepted the help of a manipulative King. One who sought the country's many riches for himself.Ashnard.Save by the Patron God, Ra. Anck Su Namun was forced to flee Desierto. While she possessed great power she alone would not be able to defeat her brother and his puppet master. Hearing tales of the mages of Fiore she founded a guild with one aim. Reclaim the throne and defeat those who would drive it into ruin. For Desierto.

Desierto: The Sun Kingdom

Desierto is a large region located east of Minstrel, Earth land. It's climate is the hottest in Earth land with a large part of it being inhospitable deserts and because of this the kingdom regularly suffers from droughts. The citizens are a hardy people used to the harsh sun. However it isn't as developed as most other countries and is rather old fashioned sticking closely to its rich culture, unwilling to place development before its core religion. This causes many countries to see it as uncivilized. Water is far more precious than any gold and the royal family has a firm older over it. Controlling the rivers and reservoirs in times of droughts. Gold and other precious minerals such as diamonds are common place giving them greater trade power with neighbouring nations. While not on the same level as Stella Lacrima crystals are also a common sight. In Desierto the Pharaoh is seen as a god holding dominion over the country. As such when they pass their corpse is entombed however it varies from Pharaoh to Pharaoh with some choosing to be kept in gigantic pyramids while others choose simpler temples. All are filled with forgotten treasures and tombs just waiting to be discovered. Many treasure hunters have travelled far into the desert sands in search of them but few ever return alive. Either falling to the sun or the many traps that are carved into the ancient stone.Magic, while not uncommon, isn’t as heavily relied upon. Guilds do exist however and while not as plentiful as Fiore many are spread across the country. Rulers have been known to call upon them in times of need despite its military strength. Hoping that the magic possessed might help resolve issues that the core government cannot. It is not common for a Pharaoh to possess magic. The concept doesn’t often take place within leadership and is considered taboo to some. However, that hasn’t stopped previous Pharaohs from using magical artifacts. In truth, these are more common than most other sources of magic in Desierto with many believing them to be the spoils of a king that sort to collect every treasure the world had to offer. Whether this is true or not has been debated by historians and scholars alike.

Osiris, The Golden City (Capital)At the heart of Desierto lies, Osiris, the Golden City. For years it has been home to the Pharaoh and the very pinnacle of the Sun Kingdom. For years it's nickname came from the old yellow stones that people made their houses from. At a certain time of day the sun would reflect from them and it was like the city was made from precious metal. When Anck's magic developed it became far more literal. Turning the myth into a beautiful reality. One of the more popular rumors is that the golden statues standing on top of the Palace are her siblings. Undoubtedly spread by Salatis, the current Pharoah, in order to further ruin the reputation of the runaway princess. The only surviving member of their family. The only one who can oppose him.The Royal Palace's appearance mirrors that of a temple further showing the Pharaoh's connection to god-hood. Little has changed about it over the years save for extensions. Originally the location was chosen due to the large Oasis it encompasses. It is believed that the first Pharaoh landed in it from the heavens and as such each new ruler must bless themselves with the precious water.Osiris is also home to one of Earth Lands biggest bazaars /markets with traders from all over the continent coming to earn Jewel. This is mainly because of the County's central location with many passing through the harsh sands to travel between kingdoms.

Nekheb, The City of the Dead (North)It is far too difficult to bury the dead in the sand. Instead the people of Desierto mummify their deceased and house them in giant tombs in Nekheb. The city furthest to the North of Desierto. Pharaoh's have their own tomb, nobles have family ones and the common citizens use vast communal ones. Stacking sarcophagus on top of one another.Priests known as the Mortalitasi are in charge of overseeing and taking care of the dead. They're necromancer, mages who trap and bind the souls of the deceased who attempt to wander among the living. While the practice is seen as cruel and unusual to outsiders it's a necessity to the people of Desierto.Because of the city's grim nature it doesn't get many visitors besides funeral processions. However, one of the oldest guilds to exist within the Country is based here. Members are extremely elusive and many believe that the guild went into hiding years ago only to be consumed by the living dead.

Bes, The Hidden City (East)Concealed beneath the sands of Desierto lies the Hidden City of Bes. Only a few know how to find it and many have perished on their journey, lost to the sun. Originally it was home to a group of traditionalists known as the Paavo. They believed themselves to be the true children of the gods and in order to keep themselves pure they kept away from the outside world. Now it is home to Desierto's infamous black markets.Secrets, weapons, artifacts and even slaves are sold here. Illegally captured citizens of other countries. Typically ones who had been caught alone in the sands. While the slave trade is legal they’re bred like cattle. The use of outsiders within it is highly taboo. The City is run by a criminal group known as the Exchange. Leadership battles are a constant within the group but the latest rumors indicate that a powerful mage has taken over. Turning the once disorganised thugs into a true criminal empire. One that allowed Ashnard to assume true control over the country.

Magic

[ Gold Blooded ]Veins filled with gold. She can harden and manipulate the molten metal to her will molding it into weapons and other inanimate objects. If someone is foolish enough to attack she can halt the blades descent into her flesh through hardening the gold in the area making it impervious to fatal wounds. The molten metal can also be used to brutally burn all that touch it.Similar to Make Magic the gold from her body can be used to create animate creatures acting as a living organism within her. She can also use her the molten metal remotely. For example, if some were to be used to create a necklace she could take control of it from a considerable distance.[ Golden touch ]But one touch from Anck and any being, inorganic/organic, will be turned into pure gold. While the effects can be permanent for lesser creatures those powerful enough might be able to break free or negate the effects of the Magic entirely. It can also be reversed by the caster. However, killing or rendering them unconcious causes the effects to be irreversable.Golden Glare
By making direct eye contact with the caster the other party is turned into a golden statue. The effect is instantaneous.
[ Golden Aura ]Anck gives off a golden aura at all times, befitting of her royal status. The glimmer is visible to the naked eye and enhances her entire body in the effect. Stare too long and those with a weak mind will find themselves drawn to her. Willing to do whatever she might ask of them simply by being in her presence too long. It’s effects are subtle are first but those who become trapped within it can become addicted to it and crave to be in her presence. The severity of this magic can be altered and those with strong minds will be able to resist the effects.

[ Take-Over, God Soul : Ra ]Deity of the Golden Sun, Ra, is revered in Desierto. He is the pinnacle of all life and it is by his grace that the Pharaoh exists. Granting them the wisdom to rule over his domain. While watered down the long line of rulers that proceeded Anck are all descended from him. Through viewing the struggle to power for the youngest of his kin he deemed her worthy. Taking her as his avatar to assist through either wisdom or a golden fist.In this form, Anck, is able to control a portion of Ra’s power. Specifically his ability to control divine sunlight. It burns away ‘impurities’ and cleanses even the deadliest of curses.Commandment, As the ruler and the creator of life, Ra, can freeze people in place with one word. Kneel. Those with a stronger will/mind will still be affected but the period in which they are forced to obey the commandment will vary.

[ Take-Over, God Soul : Bastet ]Goddess of revenge and pleasure, Bastet found Anck in the depths of her despair. Instead offering her a new perspective. Revenge. The old Gods of Desierto did not care for the new Pharoah. Should he die whilst in power his body would be enshrined as though he was one of them. Such a thing was unacceptable. In this form Anck is granted a portion of Bastet’s power. Her strength grows exponentially. Able to withstand the most powerful magic attacks and topple pyramids in the blink of an eye. That’s alongside the increases to her speed and reflexes.
Her Golden Aura is amplified. Adapting into a potent form of pleasure magic. This causes those in its thrall to lose control and unlike charm magic it isn’t broken so easily. The double sided spear that accompanies this Take-Over is called the Sistrum.
Roar of the Goddess Produces an ultrasonic wave that crashes into everything it encounteres.
